Tabata
Eight rounds of 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest — four minutes total.
What it means in a class
Tabata is a specific interval protocol: 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off, repeated eight times, for a total of four minutes per movement. It came out of Japanese research into high-intensity intervals and it's far harder than it looks on paper.
Scoring is usually your lowest round, which stops you sandbagging the last few intervals.
On the whiteboard
Tabata air squats: 8 x (20s work / 10s rest). Score = lowest round.
