Clean and Jerk
An Olympic lift: floor to shoulders (clean), then shoulders to overhead (jerk).
What it means in a class
The clean and jerk is two movements in one. The clean brings the bar from the floor to the front rack on your shoulders; the jerk drives it from there to locked out overhead.
Because it splits into two parts, it's usually the more approachable of the two Olympic lifts for newer members — and you'll see cleans on their own in plenty of workouts.
